On January 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the ZAF lecture hall, Philosophenweg 7, 07743 Jena Prof Dr. Miquel Gimeno from the National Autonomous University of Mexico gives a lecture on the topic "Alternative intra-articular treatments for arthritis diseases using enzymatically synthesizde polymers"

Everyone interested ist invited to come!

Dr. Gimeno got his first Degree in Chemistry for the University of Barcelona 8Spain) in 1998. After collaborative one-year Master's Degree program on living radical polymerization studies at Dr. Cor Koning's research lab at the Free University of Brussels (Belgium), he joined Dr. James Feast group in the Chemistry Dept. at the University of Durham (UK) in the synthesis of electrostrictive polymers for which he obtained his Ph.D. in 2002. From 2003 to 2005 worked as researcher in Dr. Jaume Veciana's group at the Materials Science Institute of Barcelona in processing of biopolymers for pharmaceutical applications. Dr. Gimeno moved out to Mexico in late 2005 to work in the Faculty of Chemistry at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), in which he obtained full time Professorship in 2012 and he hold the position of Head of the Biotechnology Department since 2015. His research focuses on the enzyme‐mediated synthesis of polymeric biomaterials in multidisciplinary collaborative projects.
