The Jena Center for Soft Matter (JCSM) is a scientific center established in accordance with the Thuringian Higher Education Act and the constitution of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. The JCSM is an interdisciplinary profile center of the Chemical-Geoscientific, Biological-Pharmaceutical, Physics-Astronomical and Medical faculties. It is part of the current research focus "Innovative Materials and Technologies" of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
PEG Synthesis
Welcome
The central research area within the Jena Center for Soft Matter (JCSM) is functional polymers ("soft matter"). In particular, this concerns the tailored molecular design of polymers, the targeted modification and functionalization of polymers, the detailed molecular characterization, their nano- and microscopic structuring in solution and on surfaces, and the investigation of the properties of the resulting innovative materials. The possible applications range from the life sciences via sensors and artificial photosynthesis to self-healing materials.
